A lovely day spent in glorious Wenslydale. Special thanks to those who like Red Roses.

3Rs looks forward to welcoming you back to Gods own County.

Report on the Three Ridings Labrador Club One day Open Field Trial
Held at Wykeham Estate, Scarborough 7thNovember 2018.
By kind invitation of Viscount Downe, of Downe Estates,a 12 dog Open trial was run on mixed arable and rough ground under very pleasant weather.
Judges, Mick Newsam, John Lees, Sue Lowe and Pippa Williams did a fine job.
Steward of the Beat was Headkeeper Mr Matt Steadman ( see photo) who led the team of local guns with consistently good shooting and great humour – if anyone did miss a bird!

The first bird down eliminated two dogs but competitors settled to enjoy a morning of walked up shooting with eight dogs going on after lunch. Dogs were then lined on higher ground separated by a stone wall but in view of a drive which was stopped after 4 birds had been shot in order to give competitors a fair chance of marking. The drive then continued, to complete the trial.

A lovely trial that can be best summed up by the following comments
The winner- A great trial, we never felt that judges were trying to eliminate dogs. If I could chose ground to shoot over my dog on a Saturday afternoon it would be here.
Judge – An enjoyable trial to judge, plenty of game, superb dogs and plenty of banter!
Chief Steward in summing up. I asked you all to relax and enjoy your dogs and the trial, you did – and I thank you, and the many people who have helped here today. ( Over 20 people came as helpers and spectators )

A Panel Judge, John Lees, was given a huge round of applause in gratitude for over 30 years as a Field Trial Judge, and he gave a brief but sincere speech announcing that this was his last judging appointment. Your contribution to the sport is much appreciated John.

Thanks were expressed to our host, the guns and our sponsors Roger Skinner dog food, and Orvis of Harrogate
